How do I know if I'm paying too much for a new roof?

Before you make a decision to hire a roofing contractor, we recommend that you get quotes from three roofing companies. The three quotes may vary significantly in detail and pricing, so read them carefully and ask about anything you don't understand.
Next, ask each roofing contractor for referrals from homeowners or building owners with similar projects. Ask the referrals about their experiences with the company they chose, why they chose them, and what they learned from the process.

What must I do to prepare for my roofing project?

We found roof tiles or shingles in our yard after a storm. Do we need a new roof?

In many cases, you can replace roof tiles or shingles without a full roof replacement. As soon as you notice tiles or shingles from your roof in your yard, call your roofing company for an inspection. Don't inspect the roof yourself. A professional roofing inspector knows how to walk on your roof without causing additional damage and can spot minor signs of roof damage that you would miss. Often, you can repair minor problems easily and inexpensively. However, if you don't repair them, they can cause damage to your walls or further damage to your roof, resulting in higher repair costs.
